IEZUMI,

I remember being scolded once, a long time ago. When I said, "You really don't know how a piece will turn out until it's done," I was told that that isn't good enough for an artist. By shaving, scraping and scratching glass, a form slowly takes shape and you decide whether it is good or bad. If you don't know what it is, it's back to grinding and grating. After a while you get tired of grinding and look at what you've made, but it doesn't look like much, so you return to grinding, shaving, scraping and scratching some more until something starts to appear. After all of this scraping and grinding, something new finally begins to peek through, so it's once again back to the grindstone.
