A piece of my artwork is complete once it takes into account all of the space surrounding it. This is because the world behind the piece, which would ordinarily be hidden, and the world in which the person viewing the art lives, are inseparable from the motif of the piece of art itself. Since I began making works of art I started to look more deeply at this planet to which we as human beings owe our existence, and I try to produce works that will stimulate such thought. In 1990 I read Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring," written in 1962 and her 1965 book, "Then Sense of Wonder." After reading these I began to create art in her name. May this wonderful planet endure.
