Glass clearly has the physical properties of a mineral yet can be shaped into any number of forms. It is one of the few materials on Earth that I am able to use for sculpting. It surprises me by being able to produce a rich expression of the image and intentions I have in my mind, and its transparency deserves special mention. My artwork uses the technique of casting, where a lump of glass is shaped. In the process, I am aware of how glass is both a liquid and a mineral. By grinding part of that lump, a light sculpture is made that creates an exterior and interior space simultaneously, allowing the abstraction of four-dimensional thought or conception and its expression inside the glass. This allows most of the themes in my work to be about time and space.
